You feel better away from work, then the pattern returns by the end of the next day.

Workplace discomfort and practical support
When Work Starts Taking More Out Of Your Body Than It Should
Whether your day involves a desk, a vehicle, tools, patients, lifting or repetitive tasks, work can gradually start showing up in your body. Often it is not one dramatic event; it is the accumulation of what your day keeps asking you to do.
The part that can be hard to say out loud
When work follows you home in your body.
“I need advice that fits the job I actually have.”
When your body is already tired by the middle of a workday, it can be hard to leave work at work. Many people carry that tension home, then wake up knowing the same demands are waiting again tomorrow.
Does this sound familiar?
Sometimes the hardest part is how quietly life changes around it.
You have changed how you sit, lift, drive or move around the workplace.
You want advice that fits the reality of your job rather than an ideal day that does not exist.
What might be contributing?
A Work Problem Needs A Real-World Plan
Workplace discomfort can involve workload, positions, breaks, stress, recovery, previous injuries and the physical environment. A useful conversation looks at the actual tasks you do, not just a generic posture checklist.
The aim is to find realistic ways to support capacity, comfort and confidence at work.
What Dr Charlton assesses
Before recommendations, we take time to look at the whole picture.
Not every person needs every test or every approach. The assessment is shaped around what has been happening, what matters to you, and what the findings suggest is appropriate.
- The tasks, positions and times of day that are difficult
- Relevant movement, strength and load tolerance
- Your work environment and practical constraints
- Whether a certificate, referral or other workplace pathway is needed
Practical questions, answered
A clear process before any care is recommended.
What happens at the complimentary consultation?
Your first visit starts with a complimentary consultation with Dr Charlton. He will listen to what has been happening, how it is affecting your life and what you would like to get back to. If it appears he may be able to help, he will then conduct a thorough examination relevant to your symptoms, health history and goals, before explaining the findings and appropriate next steps in plain language.
What testing might be relevant?
The assessment looks at the real tasks, postures, loads and times of day that affect you, along with relevant movement, strength and capacity. Imaging is not routine for work-related discomfort alone. Where another investigation, a GP review, workplace rehabilitation pathway or formal work-capacity advice is appropriate, this can be discussed with you.
When might another pathway be better?
A GP, occupational physician, physiotherapist, insurer or workplace-rehabilitation provider may be appropriate depending on the injury, work requirements and existing claim pathway. Significant injury, new weakness or numbness, fever, chest symptoms, or worsening pain after trauma need prompt medical assessment.
What care could involve
A plan should make sense for your body and your life.
Recommendations may include hands-on care where appropriate, movement strategies, ergonomic suggestions, mobility or strength work and a gradual plan that fits your workday.

Common questions
A few things people often want to know.
Can you help with desk-related discomfort?
Many people seek advice about desk work, but the useful approach is individual. We consider your setup, breaks, movement and the broader demands of your day.
Do I need to stop working?
That depends on your situation. We can help you understand practical modifications and when medical or occupational guidance is important.
